Sharing is caring, right? And especially when it comes to plant-based cooking.
When I decided to ditch the meat in 2014 and then dairy in 2017, I realised that the only way to make the transition easier was to veganise the hell out of all my favourite dishes. Dairy milk was replaced with plant or nut milk (my favourite is rice milk, all round!), I started to make my own cheese so that we could still tuck into delicious pizzas (see my all-time favourite cookbook, Fuss-Free Vegan, for the most AMAZING pizza and pasta recipes), and meat was replaced with jackfruit, tofu (which, when crumbled and marinated, makes the most delicious mince - see my Spaghetti Bolognaise recipe), and plant-based meat substitutes (such as the julienne chicken that I buy at Fresh Earth in Emmarentia, or Reformhaus at Northgate).
Living compassionately is really not that difficult when you realise that you are no longer playing a direct hand in the suffering of animals. And let's not even talk about the off-the-charts health benefits you'll experience, or the positive impact on the environment.
Here is a selection of my favourite favourites; some of them I created myself, others are modified from recipes, and then there are those that have been shared with me by my vegan friends. Simply click on the recipe to download it. More recipes will be added as I find or create them.
Bon appetit!
